Slate-Crete
Slate-Crete is a slate like looking concrete finish that comes in a range of patterns click link to slate impression mats.
After the concrete is screeded and toweled, the base colour is then applied in the form of colour hardeners.
It is usual to apply more than one colour to add depth and appeal.
When the surface is ready a release agent is applied, this can be done in powder form or liquid form. After the release agent has been applied the concrete is ready for slate impression stamping.
This is done for two reasons:
- The release agent acts as a waterproofing compound between slate impression stamp and the concrete.
- It tones the base colour or colours for the required result.
After curing, the concrete is pressure blasted with water to remove excess release agent. This is very important if the sealer is to have optimum effect. Two coats of acrylic clear sealer are applied with the second coat containing a slip resistant powder. The sealer is to protect the surface from staining and to enhance the colour (to understand how to seal please download the Slate-Crete brochure).
